Warrior Goddess Durga – the Invincible One

The tale of Goddess Durga and her battle against the demon king Mahishasura is one of the most iconic legends symbolizing the triumph of good over evil.

According to the legend the gods could not defeat demon Mahishasura who was threatening the existence of the universe. In their desperation they approached the holy trinity Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva for assistance. They revealed that only a woman could stop Mahishasura, but no such force existed. It was at this moment that a divine decision was made to approach Mata Parvati and create a powerful goddess who would embody the combined energy of all the gods. The gods released their Shakti energy together and a magnificant and powerful goddess arose. They called her Durga, the Invincible One and they armed her with all their weapons. Durga rode to the top of the mountain on a lion. In a fericious battle, she defeated Mahishasura and saved the world.

She is the Deity to call upon when you are in a crisis or deep trouble. Including self inflicted pain that arises from the identification with the false SELF and egoic delusions/patterns.
She is the goddess to call upon of you have lost hope and are fighting a serious illness.

Durga who is the representation of INDESTRUCTIBLE Strength, who is known for her strong and firm Commitment (unwavering resolve) and she can teach us to BE the change we want to see in the world.

Durga is the Force, the Shakti beyond all existence and she is not a Goddess that we should mess or fool around with.

She is untouched by compulsiveness of anger, hatred, jealousy, greed and negativity of the ego and that’s why Durga is a powerful Goddess to invoke to strengthen a weak and unfocused mind.

Our time is far too precious to waste it for activities that are not aligned with our Higher Purpose or Service to Others.

If every negative comment, or your own lack of faith and trust can make you feel insecure or distract you from your original goal so that you begin to doubt yourself – you will be tossed around like a pawn (weakest piece in the game of chess) on a chessboard by those whose energy is scattered all over the place too and who lack courage, commitment and determination.

As long as you are consistent in thoughts and actions and persist you will definitely reach your goal. Consistency and pure intentions are more important that perfection.

In 2025, Shardiya Navratri will commence on 22 September

In 2025, Shardiya Navratri will commence on 22September and conclude with Vijayadashami on October 2.

Navratri is a time when the energy of the universe is in a state of heightened spiritual power and the energy of the Divine Mother is easier to access. The nine forms of Goddess Durga represent different aspects of the divine feminine energy, and each day of the festival offers an opportunity to activate and honour that energy. It is believed that honouring the Mother Goddess during the nine days of Navaratri will purify our soul, mind, and bring at peace to the navagrahas (nine planets).

The Festival of the Divine Mother is a powerful time to release darkness from within that disallows us to experience a steady and unshakable connection to cosmic consciousness.

THE WORD ‘NAVARATRI’ literally means nine nights in Sanskrit, ‘nava’ meaning nine and ‘ratri’ meaning nights. During these nine nights and ten days, nine forms of Shakti / Devi are worshiped.

The seeds of inner renewal are sown by devotees during Navaratri.

Navaratri honors the three essential aspects of the Supreme Mother Goddess.

Goddess Durga removes impurities and bigger obstacles.

Lakshmi bestows us with beauty, inner peace, prosperity and abundance. Lakshmi is the Goddess of goodness and a representation of feminine qualities such as purity, nobility, grace, charm, splendor, integrity and everlasting beauty.

Goddess Saraswati bestows us with highest wisdom, discernment ability, intuition and higher knowledge

The festival is popularly celebrated as “Ashtami” (8th day) and “Maha Navami”(9th day) .

Durga Ashtami is the eighth day of the Navratri festivities, Durga Ashtami is considered to be one of the most significant days. Ashtami, meaning ‘the eighth’, is dedicated to Goddess Mahagauri, one of the nine forms of Goddess Durga. She is the symbol of purity, serenity and tranquillity

The Sanskrit meaning for Durga is a place that is protected and cannot be reached by negative forces. The word Durga also means invincible, unbeatable and undefeated.

The mantra that is commonly used to honor and worship Devi Durga is

“Aum Dum Durgayai Namaha”

This is an extremely powerful mantra to harness the energy of planets and prevent them from afflicting us.

Meaning and Explanation

Aum – The primordial sound of the universe; The essence of everything.

Dum – The seed mantra (sound) of Devi Durga.

Durgayei – To Devi Durga

Namaha – We bow down to you or we surrender to you.

As Navaratri begins we have the opportunity to ask ourselves what is it that is keeping us in the world of Illusion? It’s usually addiction to comfort, being influenced by deep seated desires and fears without realizing it, or feelings of powerlessness that decreases our inner LIGHT, ENERGY LEVELS, and soul strength and prevents us to reach our higher potential and to realise our true SELF.

NAVARATRI is a potent and auspicious time to connect with the three aspects of the divine mother to ensure that you and your family experience inner peace, inner strengh and prosperity.

Navaratri (literally nine nights) symbolizes the triumph of good over evil and, as the name implies, this festival is celebrated for nine days.

During Navratri, people often gather to perform ‘pujas’ on small shrines representing different aspects of Goddess Durga, including Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Saraswati.

The first three nights are dedicated to Maa Durga. Durga is a principle aspect of the Mother Goddess who eliminates suffering and removes evil. She represents the transformative power of Divinity. She is the incarnation as the all-powerful one with the combined power of all the divine beings. She has 8 arms to protect from all directions.

This is the time for creation and energy. We honour and worship Durga and ask that she uses her destructive power to remove anger, selfish desires, greed, ego and undue attachments; and purify us to become a receptacle of her Divinity.⁣

In Sanskrit, the word ”Durga” literally translates as the one who is ”unbeatable” or “invincible” and cannot be defeated, hence ”unconquerable”.

We are not entirely controlled by the stars, retrogrades or any planetary constellations if we have awareness and live consciously.

What are your thoughts on Mercury Retrograde?

Mercury is a planet for writers and educators. It rules over all matters of communication, including the internet, travel and technology.

Mercury is often called as the messenger of gods/universe in many mythological stories.
And since Mercury is the planet that impacts the mind, expression, travel, communication, awareness and technology the chances are heightened that something does either not go according plan during Mercury Retrograde or unexpected challenges arise that we need to deal with.

Luckily there are quite a few things we can do in advance so that we can be better prepared and more relaxed and flexible if things don’t go as expected or planned.

The traditional advice during Mercury Retrograde goes usually as follows:

“Don’t travel, Don’t sign important contracts, Don’t make life-altering decisions, Don’t marry, Don’t initiate conflicts, Don’t push excessively, Don’t start something new and so on.”

Even though it appears that the Planet is moving backwards for approx. three weeks during Mercury Retrograde in reality, it is not. It is an optical illusion because no planet can move backwards in its orbit. Mercury is the planet closest to the Sun and is slightly larger than the Moon. When Mercury reaches the farthest point from the Sun, it changes direction to rectify its path. It is also the fastest planet in our solar system and that’s why it enters retrograde approx. three to four times a year.

Everything that requires adjustments and moderation becomes more visible during Mercury Retrograde.

That’s why the energies of Mercury Retrograde are favourable for reframing, reconsidering, recalculating, recalibrating, revising, refreshing, rescheduling, rejuvenating, rethinking, and especially clarifying. It is a chance to observe things from another perspective, to untangle our thoughts and responses, and to be more vigilant, alert, and observant to triggers and negative patterns.

Allow yourself to come back to perfect harmony by witnessing the distortions and false perceptions of the mind and releasing them with LOVE returning to a state of ONENESS. You are a Being of Divine Light fully grounded in your physical body. Whole and complete.

Mercury Regrograde offers us an opportunity to complete unfinished tasks, to review our past projects and to settle disagreements.

Mercury impacts speech, expression, analytical skills, intelligence, mind, logic, sharp intellect, business success, friendship, education, earnings and financial stability.

What Mercury retrograde means for your business

Mercury retrograde is not a conducive time to launch a new business venture, but it is a supportive time to revisit and rework things from your past to reach out to clients and customers with whom you haven’t been in touch for a while. It’s also a supportive time to strengthen your energy around finances and to take care of unfinished business.

During each Mercury cycle, the planet is stationary twice, when it changes direction. These so called “Mercury Retrograde stationary pauses” can be highly important and insightful times. They provide us an opportunity to slow down and to pay more attention which will help to minimise the negative manifestation of Mercury Retrograde such as miscommunication and misunderstandings.

The stationary phase of Mercury usually feels more intense energetically as it acts as a cosmic gateway, prompting us to be more alert and awake to fine-tune our communication skills, strengthen our intellectual abilities, and become more flexible in terms of adjusting to changes and challenges with patience, resilience and resourcefulness. It invites us to embrace clarity and precision in our thoughts, words, and actions, and to develop a flexible and adaptable approach that will allow us to navigate the peaks and valleys of life with more courage, confidence and grace.

Pause, slow down and correct if needed but don’t sleep during Mercury Retrograde or when Mercury goes stationary

Pay also special attention during Mercury Retrograde where you are being asked to surrender your ego in service to the infinite creator or a higher cause. We will become more aware during Mercury Retrograde of our attachment that things should go a certain way and observe our reactions when shake-ups and hick-ups happen.

Since communication is an important aspect of any type of relationship, delayed messages and misunderstandings can lead easily to hurt feelings, irritability, frustration, conflicts or disagreements.
